Ingersoll Rand Among Seven Organizations Applauded as Eco-Leaders for Making the World a Better Place to Live

Davidson, N.C., July 22, 2015 Ingersoll Rand (NYSE:IR), a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, is included on Green Builder Magazine’s 2015 list of Eco-Leaders. Companies recognized as Eco-Leaders proactively strive to make the world a better place to live through innovations in conservation, waste reduction and reduced carbon emissions.

The accolade highlights a number of areas where Ingersoll Rand excels – including the Climate Commitment, EcoWise Portfolio, employee engagement initiatives and transparency – and articulates the company’s holistic approach to sustainability through weaving energy efficiency and sustainability into the fabric of the organization.

“We came away with a mandate in 2010 to integrate and embed sustainability into every brand and every function,” said W. Scott Tew, executive director, Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand. “At the center of this is our Climate Commitment to significantly increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impacts from our operations and product portfolio by 2030, with key milestones specified for 2020.”

The honor details the creation of the company’s EcoWise portfolio of products earlier this year. These products, such as the Trane Sintesis air-cooled chiller and the Trane E Series CenTraVac large capacity chiller, are designed to lower environmental impact with next-generation, low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and high efficiency operation.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to work with an eco-leading company like Ingersoll Rand, which is constantly developing new ways to enhance its sustainability,” said Sara Gutterman, CEO, Green Builder Media. “Ingersoll Rand is paving the way to a greener, cleaner, and more abundant future through its innovative products, efficient manufacturing processes, and thoughtful business strategies.

In September 2014, Ingersoll Rand made public its climate commitment to achieve a 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gas refrigerant footprint of our products by 2020, and incorporating alternatives with lower global warming potential across the company’s product portfolio by 2030; make a $500 million investment in product-related research and development over the next five years to fund the long-term reduction of GHG emissions; and a 35 percent reduction in greenhouse gas footprint of our own operations by 2020.
